Huge investment potential in an unrivalled destination-Cape Verde

leave a comment »

Cape Verde has been receiving a lot of publicity in the magazines, newspaper property supplements and other forms of media as being the next big holiday and real estate investment destination.

Cape Verde are the closest tropical islands to Europe; just off the north-western coast of Africa, only {five and a half hours} flight from the UK and just an hour south of the Canary Islands.

The numbers of UK tourists to the Islands increased by an unsurpassed 800% between 2006 and 2007, this sector is now the second largest group of travelers to the islands.

A recent Mintel report evidenced that 60% of all UK tourists now opt for self catering accommodation – with over 30% of those booking their holidays online direct with the owners.

These factors alone display the true potential and demand for quality self catering accommodation and its massive undersupply.

Basing our forecasts for rental returns on current pricing levels on the islands we are able to predict a minimum net rental yield of 8.6% up to a potential 15% net return per annum variable on how the rentals are achieved.

Morocco invests $37.3 million in tourism

leave a comment »

The Moroccan government has set aside $37.3 million to reduce the impact of global economic crisis on the country’s tourism sector.

Tourism Minister Mohammed Boussaid said Morocco’s tourism, which contributes 9 percent of GDP and creates more than 400,000 direct jobs, is spared from the crisis, but said if the crisis continues, the tourism sector will not survive.

He said tourist arrivals rose by 10 percent in the first four months of 2009, saying the same upward trend, went on during the month of May with 11 percent.

Local reports state the agreement is meant to be a plan of action and a concerted public-private response to the impact of the world crisis on the tourism sector. “It sets out measures aimed at prospecting new markets and maintaining shares in priority ones namely France, Spain, the UK, Italy, Germany and Benelux, and raising tourist arrivals,” MAP has reported.

The Moroccan government has also set up an incentive mechanism to promote residential tourism as well as support mechanisms to enhance investments towards carrying out tourist projects and improving the quality of the tourist.
